I was super excited when my Brother approached me to do my Sister-in-laws graduation party invitation. It has been a long journey to her goal of becoming "The Best Optometrist in the World"! Her love for eyeballs, pugs and life inspired this custom invitation design. Congrats to the grad!
So this whole social media thing is starting to become more and more clear as I go. I love creating great designs that others love. However, the hard part is "how do I get the people that possibly could love my cards to even realize I exist".
I have recently had "the moment". This is what I call it when people start to flood your etsy shop. You then find out after looking at your stats that is was because of placement somewhere, in something. It could be a treasury list, blog feature, email blast, tweet, Facebook post... the list goes on. Any who, here are some of my experiences over the past few months with "placement".
The Etsy Treasury List
I have gotten a ton of support over the past few months from etsy members adding my greeting cards to their beautiful and inspiring treasury lists. A treasury list is a collection of products that any etsy member can make. It oblivious is great if they have a following because anyone following them will see the products added to their list. I am making it a personal goal to do more treasury lists in the up coming months.
My Mother's day and also graduation cards were featured on some really big blogs this season (Buzzfeed, coolmompicks, and acutabovetheresty to name a few). This is huge because it drives the blogs viewers to my etsy store. With out the support of blogs these potential customers would never find my shop.
ETSY Email Blast
I had the opportunity and fortune to be featured on Etsys "May Gifts" email blast. My graduation card (located here) was picked out of all the cards this year to live on the email! How amazingly exciting! But, I learned you better be prepared when this happens. Stock up on that item and get ready to pack, stuff and ship for the next few days. Thanks for the support Etsy!
The OSP Etsy shop has reached 100 sales today! Thank you to everyone that helped me get to this point! My card line is growing as time goes on and I am starting to get a feel for my style and my customers.
I think this is a perfect time to quote one of the most recent cards added to my shop. "What a Freaking Magical Day"!
